HAND-MADE FABULA SHOES

Fabula shoes are finely detailed masterpieces.

How is it made?

The creation of a hand-sewn shoe is complex task requiring serious professional know-how and can only be carried out by a very experienced, conscientious and steady handed shoemaker. László Fabula meets all these requirements perfectly and pursues the trade of shoemaking at an artistic level.

He fastens the carefully fitted and sewn upper part with iron or wooden nails to the shoe tree, then, by hand with a special thread, he sews on the frame and the insole. After this process, he attaches the heel and the sole, then finishes by providing the constructed form with aesthetic quality.

Upper leather

The first thing someone realises on the shoe is the upper part. Creating the shoe’s upper is a detailed workmanship work, where no mistakes can be made, as they cannot be fixed later. Making the upper leather requires professional know-how and precision. The fine finishing of the upper is determined by the dexterity of the shoemaker and precisely fitting the markings of the pattern.

Sole

Finishing the sole of the shoe require several steps:

Mounting the upper leather onto the shoe tree: by this mean that the leather upper is attached to a made-to-measure shoe tree with metal nails

– The welt: the master uses a curved awl and two thin needles to sew a strip of leather by hand to the edges of the sole; this is the most important step and determines the durability of the footwear.

– Sole stitching is also done by hand and influences the style of the shoe. There are several types of sole stitching: frame sewn, Goyser sewn, English, chain- and German stitching

– Heeling, dyeing, and preparation are the finishing processes of shoemaking. These steps require great dexterity and creativity since these determine the exterior characteristics of the shoe.
